Home Run Debry
13 July 2009 | By davetaylor-wafx in UncategorizedI will say this about St. Louis Cardinal fans. No matter who your favorite team is and you think you have the best fans. Come to a Cardinals game. These are good fans. Loyal and they know the game. Even classy as well as Brandon Inge failed to hit a homerun during the derby they were cheering him on pretty good. Of course the hometown hero Albert Pujols received the loudest ovation.
Unlike previous years, there was no big display of power this year. The winner, Prince Fielder, just hit over 20 total for 3 rounds. Only 2 hit more than 10 in any round. Shocking as this seemed like an ideal night for a lot of homeruns to fly out of this ballpark. Usually there’s that one guy that stands out during the event. It may have been Nelson Cruz from the Texas Rangers. He finished second and may have been the least known of theĀ 8 who participated. That’s the great thing about the Derby is that it allows someone to rise to the top. Some people claim that they need more stars for an event of this type, I disagree. We’d never have the Bobby Abreus and Josh Hamiltons be who they are without this event.
