Wouldn’t this have been cool if this was real?
April 22nd, 2009 | By davetaylor-wafx in Uncategorized | No Comments »One of the odd perks of my job is that I have to browse the internet for various stuff. Well the other day I can across a picture of this advertisement.

Two things strike me in this picture. One the guy, who is either screaming in pain or enjoyment, looks a lot like Mike Arlo . Second, if this video game was real, how ahead of its time was it when it came to bands using their music in video games. Well as funny as that picture is it’s not true. But it would have been pretty darn great had it been. The joke ad was created by a comedy team called the Van Gogh Gogh’s. Who just broke up this month actually. Anyway here’s a look at their ad and some other classic video game ideas that could have saved the 8 track for a few more years.

Wow… Monday, April 13th quite the day. First the legendary Harry Calas passes away and then late in the day I found out about Mark “The Bird” Fidrych. If you didn’t watch baseball in the 70s or didn’t live around Detroit you may not have heard of him as much. He was the year 1976 in baseball. Talking to the ball, fixing up the mound, shaking hands with teammates after a good play and a real good pitcher. 19-9 in his rookie year, in fact he started the All-Star game. He was hurt in spring training the following year and was never the same. His career record was 29-19 as he wrapped up his career in 1980. He tried a comeback in the minors for a while but was out of the sport completely by the mid 80s. Although he left the game he was never forgotten. I never him play personally but I did see him “take the field” during the last game at Tiger Stadium in 1999.
