Jay Leno returns to late night TV tonight. Him and Dave will be battling it out once again and both shows have loaded up on some big name guests this week as well. It will be interesting to see how it works out between them and if they’ll make any jokes about each other now that they are facing each other directly. Seeing them do a commercial during the Super Bowl was quite the shocker and funny as well.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Conan when he's allowed to return to television in September. I was suprised he didn't stay on NBC and go with a Midnight show. It may have been on tough on the ego, understandably but he would still be working. I remember meeting his sidekick Andy last July in St. Louis who just started working with Conan again. He was pretty exciting about the possibilites of working late night. By the way, not mentioned in the late night wars a whole lot is Jimmy Kimmel. If you haven't seen his show which comes on at midnight, there's some pretty funny stuff on there, give it a shot. A few weeks ago he actually did a show as Jay Leno. Yes, he dressed up as Jay and talked like him through the whole show.
Now that Jay is back the late night wars will be interesting and should produce some entertaining shows.

Snow on the Beach!
I have to thank everyone who came out to the Polar Plunge. The elements were unlike any other plunge. Usually we’re lucky to have a 40 or 50 degree day, not this time.
The day started off with rain showers, then a bit of ice and then snow flurries. It was very cool to see snow on the beach. It was also amazing to see thousands of Plungers go into the ocean in the middle of all of this. Over $853,000 was raised for Special Olympics Virginia. This was the plunge to remember!

I’ve been meaning to share this music video for the longest time. It’s one of my favorite songs but the video, well, they tired it was their first attempt. It probably wasn’t that funny in 1983. I bring you Separate Ways from Journey:

At the bookstore one last time
For those who remember me from my morning show days on the Fox may remember I begin working at a bookstore back in the fall of 2004. I ended up staying there all these years even after the changes at the station that moved my on-air hours.
Sadly after being at the bookstore for over 5 years the store closes tomorrow at 12noon. For me it’s one less job but I’m bummed for those who worked there for many years that will be out of a job.
I never worked retail until I was at this store and I learned quite a bit. It also worked great in helping out here at the Fox in a few ways as well when various topics came up. Good luck to the staff there and thanks for the memories.

I know this is after a couple of days that the Bowl season ended in College. But wow, how about that Central Michigan University game against Troy. Quite the game and a nice double OT win as will for the Chippewas. Okay, I may be a little bias since I went there but still. Hopefully Central’s QB Dan Lefevour will have a great pro career. Away from the spotlight he quietly because one of the better QBs in college history including some more impressive stats than Tim Tebow. I don’t know what the program will be like next year but it’s nice to see them playing in Bowl Games, something I only dreamed about when I went there.

Been quite the year this 2009. A lot of things happened and some good music was released. Some of my favorite albums on the year include the Tom Petty Live Anthology which just sounds amazing, one of the better sounding live albums. Dennis Deyoung’s solo album “100 Years From Now was pretty enjoyable. I think the highlight for me musically had to be Bob Dylan’s Christmas album. Those are words I’d never thought I would type but it’s true. When I heard that the album was being recorded I kind of laughed it off like most people did. But then I listened to it (and getting me listening to Christmas music isnt’ always easy) and I enjoyed it. We played a couple of songs from the album on the Fox and hopefully you got to hear it. One of the highlights from it is a track called Must Be Santa. Check it out and enjoy and Happy New Year!

Thank you Hampton Roads for a great Mayflower Marathon. I’ve been a part of this Food Drive for a number of years and every year the turnout is amazing.
Over 415,000 meals to be served in Hampton Roads, a great number. Have a great Thankgiving!

Congrats to the Yankees on winning the World Series in six games. I know I picked the Phillies to win in six, at least I had the amount of games right. I figured the plan of 3 days rest would come back and hurt the Yankees, it didn’t as key Phillies couldn’t get their bats going in the line up. Chase Utley played a great series for Philly but a lot of guys stepped up on the Yankees end and I don’t think Johnny Damon gets enough credit for stealing 2 bases in one play back in game 4. That changed the series.
Seems odd to have baseball end in November. Seems like spring traning is just around the corner.
